Can't Wait

Post by IR_Eddie »

So im getting my first ever Patrol next week. Cant wait. In PTA currently and they are sending it down to CPT next week - its gonna be a loooong weekend this!

I had a Disco 2 TD5 previously and loved it but had to sell because it struggled with the Offroad trailer through the Cape passes and head winds. it was between a '09 D3 V8 and the '07 Patrol 4.8GRX. Eventually opted for the Patrol and i am sure im not gonna be sorry.

So what essential mods do i need to make when i get it or is it fine like it is? i will change the square spots for round ones, get a roof-rack and ??? Does it look like stock height and tires on the pictures? if i change tyres to something a bit more mean looking what size do you recommend without having to change anything else. Here in the cape its all about sand capability.

Welcome Eddie

From what I can tell it has stock tyres. They should be fine, depending on exactly what you want to do. For me, I prefer 33" tyres. I had 32" tyres when I baught my Patrol and can feel a big improvement in grip when I went to 33". You can pop on 33's without changing anything.

Its hard to tell if it has a suspension lift on those pics, but it is not needed in my opinion if you are not going to do serious offroading where you need ground clearance. And even then the std suspension works fine

Hi, :welcomewave: :welcomewave:

Good looking patrol. Congratulations
IT looks like it had a winch at some point. If it doesnt have a suspension already to accommodate the weight of that bumper and if you want to add a winch again. I would recommend a suspension. The Original suspension wont last with the added weight. And since its a 4.8 you will need jerry cans and a place to put them

You made the right choice between the 2 anyways.
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Joshua

Well done with that buy! I was also looking at that same vehicle. A bit sour I must admit but you were quick on the trigger it seems. Anyhow, vehicle is good sold in 2007 from cmh pinetown got repossessed on 4000km and bought by a gentleman in northwest between wesselsbron and lichtenburg which then sold it on 60000km to a gentleman in thabazimbi and he finally traded it in on 75000 at gm Zambezi which did the 75000km service. Just a note the vehicle was also fitted with a arb front locker. Also I really hope you received good service from gm Zambezi for I was kept in the dark and would most certainly not be doing business with them. I can put you in touch with the owner that did the front locker he still has the spare cover and new front bumper.

From what I could gather from the second owner it has a tjm suspension setup when he owned it. Used it on some dunes a few times. The third owner might even have a roof rack for the trol too.
