Ok so I have a bee in "my" bonnet...........

So here is the question, how strong is the bonnet of the Patrol, and if I put on chequered plate like on a Landy's bonnet will I be able to stand on it???

Ps - would this cause any oil leaks :surprised: QQQ

My GU 2007 Pickup bonnet is def not strong enough without checker plate, thats for sure.

I dont think any bonnet escaped without subtle damage over time, not even LR's.

Dirk , you made my day bud !!!.... but on a serious note, the Patrol bonnet is really long, and I found that on mine, even though its a GU and not the GQ like yours, when I fitted the extension to the air scoop to allow more air flow onto the IC, it restricted my view quite a bit, which can be problematic when trying to swing these beasts into the local Checkers parking lots. A 33" tyre is a big tyre and I think if a small platkar stopped infront of you you probably won't even see it until your Patrol spits it out behind you as you drive over it

Hi Dirk, I have never stood on any of my defenders bonnets, but I have seen people do it and you end up with a dented bonnet unless it has that plate on it (only possible to put that in the middle of the bonnet) There are two structural braces underneath on the bonnet that allows this. Most landy owners do not stand on the bonnet but on the wheel arches, I have seen those wheel arches after the alu plate removed Dented and caved in!!

I don't want to stand in the middle of the bonnet -thought, just close to the widow if I want to do something on the roof rack without needing to stretch my small stubby little arms.....
