That would be a very weak 1.6......author may be confusing NM with KW. How many of his other facts are wrong?

Lets also consider the he is an ardent Landcruiser driver and fan. His comparison set is either LC or "any other cheap bakkies" :)

I think that the guy is very bias .....I prefer the 4.2 motor and think the 30l is a bad move but thats just me ..I prefer old strong 6 cilinder motors anyway the patrol bakkie is a yster ask mr boegman he works them daily.
Nothing wrong with cruiser imho not better . The people that work them on a daily basis will tell you what they think .

Not worth commenting on......but im going to take the bait anyway.......He contradicted himself on 2 or 3 occasions.

Why doesn't he do some homework and find out actuals, rather than take it to his Grease Monkey Pal down the road for his info..

ie:

Lets talk about:
1)The cruiser front Diff issues (no revers cut gears and very weak - rear pinion set from hilux range)

2)The Cruiser R151 Gearbox issues ( how many failures they've had - pathetic box from the Hilux D4d range - now with more synthetic parts than Pamela Anderson, just to make things even worse.)

3)The 5 000km Toyota intervals (not 10 000km)

4)The Kak Max Towing Load of the cruiser.. ( see point 1)

5)The patrol is not a good looking bakkie from most angles,... but my God, what kind of person did he interview for this article?...20yr old student with an Uno and a 40yr old woman with a Hyndai Getz,... i mean, ...seriously,...to compare it to a TATA just proves that neither of them run in 4wd circles nor understand the scale of this truck.

6)Comparing the Patrol to the Hilux 3D4d during the towing test under power,...well if he had compared the LC 4.2D to the Hilux the results would have been even worse,... this makes no sense at all.

There are many other points i can make about both vehicles,... i love my Patrol , but i also love cruisers.... However,...at least make an effort to gather facts, not stories,.... and for once i would like to see an article not written primarily about cupholders,...cause when your gearbox is in its chops weather you 7 000km away from home on an expedition, or down the road getting bread and milk,...the last thing you give a shit about is a cupholder.

If more farmers and construction companies start using patrol bakkies their 2nd hand value will get much higher. .....mi want a good old 4.2 so please let them be pissed off about cup holders and forget about how strong this monsters are...lol...one of the members Hein has also got a 4.2 bakkie he loaded 1.9 ton of tiles and it took it fine for 200km home....try that with a tata...

Well, to be honest I think with the black mudguards it does look very ,uch like a Tata Telcoline. And also I am not the world's foremost fan of turbo-chargers. And on top of that, I think nissan have lost the plot completely with their pricing strategy.

But here's the thing: the average bakkie-buyer today is not interested in a working vehicle. Very few will ever take it off-road, and very few will ever load it to capacity. This "test" was written for them, because let's face it, for them cupholders are very important.

These people will however never buy a Patrol bakkie anyway...

PS. the day I choose a vehicle on strenth of the cupholders, will somebody please shoot me?
