Ok so I am definately planning on doing a river trip again for last week of August or maybe first week in September.
Attached is a few pics of previous year as a "lus maakertjie" - was thinking if we can get a few Patrols then we do our own trip???????
Anybody interested? Cost is R100pp plus fuel, food and drink

Ahhh - a little bit more detail
Just a few km past Phalabowa. We start where the Kruger park fence stops, get into the "Klein Letaba" river and spend 2-3 nights in the river bed and get out at Giyani where we head back.
From Krugersdorp aprx 500km and PTA 420km depending on what road one takes.
The plan is as follows:
Leave on a Thursday and have a relaxing drive to Mbualo Lodge where we get together have a nice braai that evening and get to know the group (this is the R100 pp). Friday Morning at 09h00 we leave the lodge, travel aprx 30km next to the Kruger fence on a gravel road.
Where the fence cross the river we enter the river bed. Take a nice group photo and then it is play time. We travel in the river bed till round about 15h00 (still gets dark a bit early)make camp - entry is some wood collected in the river bed

- we settle down make a nice bonfire an kuier.
Next morning we leave at 08h00 and play in the river. So we spend Friday, saturday and Sunday night in the river and Monday morning we have brunch and then it is back home again.
The trip is 100% self sufficient as there is NOTHING in the river bed and cell phone reception is also very sporadic.
If leave is a problem one can also try for Thursday after work or leave on the Friday morning at around 02h00 to be at the lodge for departure but then it can be a looong day in the saddle, there is a few exit points in the river so it wil also be possible to leave o the Sunday for home.
But it is a very nice trip and if at all possible try to get those few days of leave.
