I presume that the 4.8 petrol motors head is aluminium, that being assumed I would say that even though the ZD30 diesel motor is only 4 cylinders, the weight would be pretty close to the 4.8 Petrol, as the head will be cast iron. You don't want to know the weight of the old TD42 diesel motor..... :surprised: .... 6 cylinders and a cast iron head .....hahaha

Maak so.

http://www.vmmotori.com/automotive/automotive-en.html

Very impressive maximum outputs!

I am pretty sure the 630 is lighter than the 4.2 Petrol, or at least in the same ball-park, but:
What quality of diesel do these engines need? Also, if the exhaust manifolds don't fit, you are going to have a serious problem.

I also feel that the bottom en is a bit lacking for a Patrol, as the Patrol has a relatively high low ratio (although aftermarket ratios are available to rectify the problem, but it all adds cost).
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Hi Vellies

I weighed my TB42
Complete with clutch and manifiolds (inlet and exhaust) but without any ancilliaries (air-con, power steering, alternator osr starter), it's about 250kg.

Dankie Bekker.

I also have a Jeep Cherokee 2,8CRD - that little diesel engine really pumps and very efficient - I get ave 9ltr/100km.
Will do well in a Patrol body! I also had a Jeep 3L V6 Diesel - Of course with 510nm it is awesome.

Jeep 2,8 CRD = 119KW, 400nm - body weight is 1950kg
Patrol 3,0 = 110KW, 371nm - body weight is 2355kg
