As you all know I recently sold my 4.8 (daily runner and the fuel was killing me!)

Thinking about replacing it with a diesel (don't let rickster hear that!!!) anyone know of any for sale, would like the GRX spec and auto looking around the R100K mark. Cheers Ian

I heard that !!!!
Ian, I would look at a 2005 and upwards 3.0 Patrol. great fuel economy considering, and motor issues sorted out. May cost a few bob more that 100K.
4.2's are scarce and maybe not as practical....but as a daily runner and a few weekend getaways, the 3.0 is in my opinion the best bet.

Hay Ricster just remember I still have my 4.5 to pull you up hills and out the mud!!

So the oil burner would only be for work and back

Be careful Ian
There are different versions of the ZD30 motor, and they are not compatable. I know of guys who bought imported motors, only to discover that they do not fit in the Patrol...

Cedric, you forgot about tarmac. Petrol wins hands down.
Mud and rocks may be easier with a big diesel compared to most Petrols, but no butt whipping.

Ricster, you are probably right, I would have run out of petrol! It's hard work for a 4.5 petrol patrol towing a 4.2 diesel so it can keep up!
