Fan blower makes screeching sound
Hi folks!
My fan blower sometimes makes screeching sounds. It mostly occurs after it ran for a while in high outside temperatures.
I did already unscrew the motor/ fan blower unit and clean the fan blower. This help only for a short time.
Do you have an idea what i might try to re-lubricate / clean or alter?
A new motor 27220VB002 is quite expensive in Germany - does anybody know a parts dealer who might sell it in SA?
That would be just as a last solution, I'd rather like to solve it by myself by other means - if somebody has an idea what might cause the noise.
Thanks for you inputs!
Florian

Re: Fan blower makes screeching sound
Florian, it is probably the fan motor's bushes or bearings.
I am not sure if they can be serviced, you will have to remove the fan motor again and see if you can get it apart without damage (be carefull of the brushes, particularly when re-assembling).
Alternatively you may have to look for a second-hand unit, or try Nikolai at euro 4x4. He is a forum member here, so you can drop him a PM.

Re: Fan blower makes screeching sound
Hi Peter,
thanks for the reply. That is what i feared. I didn't want to open up the motor when I had it out the first time, maybe I'll try again.
Thanks for the contact to Nikolai!
Regards,
Florian

Re: Fan blower makes screeching sound
The fan motor on my patrol is starting to do the same. The noice are ony there when the dash is on re-circle. Anyway I did took a peek at the motor assembly and it look pretty std.
What I mean, a Ford ranger uses the same. I will investigate and update.

Re: Fan blower makes screeching sound
On my '98 model there's no "pollen filter"". so the fan sucks in a lot of gunk when you go off-road. This stuff collects on the fan blades, builds up and eventually scrapes against the fan housing (sccrreeeEEEECHHH!!!). By this time the fan also vibrates when running at high speed, as the extra weight unbalances it.
I removed the cubby lid, opened the fan housing, removed the motor & fan assembly and cleaned it thoroughly (the fan blades, not the motor bearings). This did the trick on mine - you may also be lucky...

Re: Fan blower makes screeching sound
The pollen filter conversion is well documented on the Oz forum. Any ideas what they cost though?
