Hi Guys, can anyone tell me what entails a 180000km service on a 1997/8 4500 petrol patrol? The agents here quoted me not more than R6500.... *#$%^#@!?":

Talk to Graham Cummimg - Pathmaker on this forum. Many of us have our Trolls serviced by him. Never heard of a problem. He is in Valhalla.

A normal service consists of changing oil, filters and plugs, setting the tappets and handbrake and greasing the steering and propshafts. Certainly not that much work.

However, if re-greasing the birfields and front wheel bearings, replacing the coolant and brake and clutch fluids and diff, gearbox and t/case oils are included (which all actually should have been done a couple of times already) then perhaps that is not unreasonable.

So get them to explain to you exactly what they are talking about?

The agents normally charge double what an independant guy will charge , are there no independant mechanics that are RMI members in your hometown.

The agents tell you what they will be doing and then they do half of the work at 1/4 of the effort but still charge you as if they had done all the work

Shalom
