When did the 4.8 GRX first come out?

Think it was 2004 August (GU 4).

No, it was before that. Around 2002 would be my guess. That was when the Y61 got a facelift (called GU 3 Down Under). I will see if I can find out exactly.

The 4.8 GRX Patrol came out in 2002, crystal lights and all the extras.

I had an enquiry today wrt a vehicle someone was looking to buy i.e. GRX 4.8 ,2002. I thought this was suspect, because like Lunar I thought it came out later...

I assume the GU3=GU4 engibe i.e. Y61?

The Patrol with Nissan model code Y61 is referred to down under as the GU.

The version originally launched is called the GU Series 1 or GU 1.

When the ZD30 diesel motor was launched, the Aussies started referring to the model as the GU 2, although there weren't really cosmetic differences as far as I know.

In 2002, the Patrol had a bit of a facelift comprising different bumpers, new lights and an interior upgrade. This was also when the fantastic 4.8 liter TB48DE petrol motor was launched. This is GU 3.

GU 4 is the most recent facelift, which happened around 2004. The cosmetic changes included new bumpers and lights, fender blisters and a much more upmarket interior. The 4.8 petrol motor was carried over unchanged as far as I know.
