Re: Rust de Winter - Nissan Club weekend away 2013
Well done everybody !!!
It was unbelievably dry.... Lovers Lane was a little dry..... the mountain was a little dry... but there was enough liquid for the great bunch of people to consume around the fire, with great conversations and jokes.
Alex.... I salute you !!! 7 kids from the childrens home and plus your own 2 !!!! You handled that fantastically !!! WELL DONE MATE !!!!
Yip the weekend was a great success, Unfortunately 3 vehicles had engine or gearbox mounting failures. A 4.2 diesel Patrol (had to repair the radiator during the lunch break.... well done to the guys that got stuck in and helped do the fix), that still managed to finish the whole trail. Andre's Leeu loop gearbox mounting collapsed and he left early to Sunday morning and went home not wanting to do any damage to Leeu loop..... and then the Jeep Cherokee from Rust de Winter also had a problem with the fan catching the cowling ( I assume a mounting problem too )

Re: Rust de Winter - Nissan Club weekend away 2013
In defence of the Patrol name , it must be said that the radiator damage on the 4.2d was caused by some idiot technician. The fan was fitted the wrong way around and caught the radiator when a little more than highway cruising was asked for.
Thinus , daai 4.2 het darem teen die ergste plekke gehelp , anders sou ek sulke groot gate gegrou het en dan sou daar dalk n paar ander karre (lees Toyota en Jeep) ook nie klaar gemaak het nie.
Graham : sorry about the pic. I should have let you finish lunch!

Re: Rust de Winter - Nissan Club weekend away 2013
I must add, there are'nt many clubs around that can do that.bogeyman wrote:The most impressive thing was that we could repair a punctured radiator during the lunch break and not even cause a delay to the convoy!
As for myself, I am dead tired. And now I will have to survive this whole week!
Thanks to everyone who helped made the kids feel welcome. And that is all of you.
They had the weekend of their lives!
And the memories will last a lifetime
Some pics will follow later.
