4x4 Regulation

Post by NISMOnator »

Hi guys,

Read this article today and i guess this means we have to spend money on getting a qualification to do off-roading?

NB: Cant make out the picture, I hope it is the Patrol recovering the Land Rover and not the Land Rover towing the Troll? Who's Troll is it?

Reverse recovery ... note gap between 110's rear fender and top of wheel... suggests different direction of force... or it must be a posed pic ..... Defenders are not allowed to recover Trolls

Owned both so have no bias here...

If I have it correctly we have a number of members in the Nissan 4x4 club who are qualified to present such a course.
Maybe Grant or Ricster can advise us on the status.
It might be time that we start thinking of scheduling such a course into our progamme.
Gerotek is also an option if there are at least 10 members interested.

Four of our Club members did the assessor training and we are waiting for our TETA certificates and then we will start the DCC training for our Club members.
You will need to have the DCC certificate to go into most of the 4x4 areas.

Seems like just another way of fleecing the public - everything is becomming regulated which means money collection - next will be a special tax and training required if you have a winch on your vehicle, a camping licence if you have a rooftop tent, a radio licence from ICASA because your TPMS is a transmitting device, etc etc (apologies, I just had a bad day!) :oldtimer: :naughty:

The request to Minister Van Schalkwyk was to stop all 4x4's going offroad and he made the decision for the 4x4 guys to come up with regulatory issues and that is why NOW was started to get all of it running and that is why you need to get the DCC :oldtimer:

I like the idea of a standard being applied, so I am in as soon as a course is scheduled.

The nice thing of being a member of the Nissan 4x4 Club is that, thanks to Nissan SA, we will be able to offer the DCC courses to the club guys for next to nothing cost wise. I can understand why there is a high fee involved..... you should see the paperwork the assessors and trainers have to do for every applicant..... :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :helpsign: :helpsign: :helpsign: :helpsign:

Nissan SA has really come on board with us here on this.....    :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:
