ZD30 Catch Can installation & inter cooler replacement
Hi All,
I'm now the proud owner of a new oversized intercooler bought from Driko (Grootseun).
This thread will be my "modification dairy"; please feel free to comment.
So the packages that was sent last week Tuesday (2nd April) finally made their way to my door on Friday late afternoon.
Struggling to contain my excitement, I could only open them once the kids were put to bed. The flat box contained the new intercooler:
The large box contained the connector hoses as well as the catch can:
Picture of the catch-can. It even has a see-through pipe on the side so one can see how full it is - very cool.
the next step will be to make the brackets needed to hold the larger intercooler in place. The current intercooler needs to be removed and the necessary brackets made up. As the patrol is my wife's daily ride, the whole installation needs to be complete in a weekend.
I assume the current sensor feeding the MAPS is integrated in the old intercooler, so to fit the new (supplied sensor) I need to tap a 1/8 NPT thread into the intake - I'm nervous about drilling into the engine - what if metal bits gets into the engine?

Re: ZD30 intercooler replacement

Sterkte, lyk baie goed!

Re: ZD30 intercooler replacement
Thanks ouens.
:stumped: ?

Re: ZD30 intercooler replacement
Stefan, a clever plan (copied from the Madman installation guide) when you're drilling a boost sensor hole, is to run the motor whilst you're doing it. That way there's pressure inside the exhaust manifold, theoretically ejecting any swarf the moment you drill through. I haven't tried it myself (my manifold already had a spot for the EGT sensor), but it does make sense...
PS: It won't work on the inlet manifold though

Re: ZD30 intercooler replacement
Vra by Nissan
