Re: Bridgestone 4x4 Club Challenge - 6 April 2013
Ha ha... Alex, yeah that was a clever obstacle!!!
Bear in mind that the objective is to achieve the HIGHEST possible points in an obstacle. There has to be obstacles that now give you a choice. For that obstacle, I chose to literally drive straight towards the end poles, as missing the gateway, when I asked the Marshal would cost 25 points, and touching the pole would also cost 25 points. It was going to work out most economical for me to loose 25 points and clear the other poles, than to probably touch 2 or more poles. I then aimed to just clip the pole with the left hand side of my bumper to give me the sweetest line up through the end poles. I only lost 25 points there.
One has to loose points otherwise we could land up with a situation of having 10 vehicles with 100%.... who goes through and who doesn't. So in short, its a little bit of a mind game to sacrifice to gain..... I wish I had sacrificed more to gain more. I know of 90 points I could have gained by doing this, instead of loosing 175 points..... aggg well next time I will hopefully do better!!
I like the idea Alex. We can look into that, but will need to have a track that we can basically have for the day to mark out and drive. Let me look into this!!

I was not allowed to as the Fundi organisers dissallow engine conversions (except turbos)
So the best I could do was to ride shotgun with Noel.
Kallie se gat any time, please.
You will do better against the hardbodies. At least you have a short ox wagon, as apposed to the Patrol 4door, that is a looong ox wagon!

Agreed, with hindsight, my advice as co-driver should have been to just go straight over that banner!ricster wrote:Ha ha... Alex, yeah that was a clever obstacle!!!

If you guys want us to use the poles at more of our events then we will need more members to join us because we need to have some marshals so that we can get proper testing done.

I'm sure there are a lot of swambo's that would like to be marshals, as they don't like driving 4x4, but don't mind going along for the day.

Re: Bridgestone 4x4 Club Challenge - 6 April 2013
Well done to the organisers!! It was a really great day. And a big thanks to the sponsors, marshalls and evrybody who pitched in to arrange this spectacular event.
My wife was a spectator who hates anything thats not level, so she walked every obstacle with my camera. So lots of photos....of me and my truck! SORRY I CANT POST OF ANY OTHER TEAMS.
That GO-PRO spent 2 obstacles in my car. First(second) one and the second(third) one. My worst and my best. I just hope the beep button works very well.
It is clear that I need a lot more experience - driving and thinking

Please feel free to share some of those pics! I just spent a few hours browsing the internet to find pictures of previous years fundi and it seems only the Suzuki club makes any effort to post!
It would be nice to show off with a Patrol or two :P
