Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Good Evening all Gerotek Participants

As promised I have now started a new thread to make it easier for everybody to follow.

I had a meeting with Gerotek today to finalise the arrangements for our Gerotek Family Fun Day.

The date is set for 17 Nov 2012. The programme is as follows:

Nissan Patrol 4x4 Family Day Programme: 17 November 2012

08:00 for 08:30 Arrival and Registration/Endemnity. Coffee, tea and muffins at Restaurant (Follow the sign boards to the restaurant)
08:30 t0 09:30 Conference Room. Introduction to facility and 4x4 safety briefing. (This might take less time).
09:30 to13:30 4x4 drive. Participants divide into 3 groups of ten vehicles.
Each group will be accompanied by one Gerotek instructor who will lead the group.
13:30 Tracks close.
13:30 Braai. The venue is the Karee Lapa (Bring own chairs tables, food, drinks, braai tools, eating utensils, charcoal, etc.
Please bring portable braais as we may not make fire on the ground). The ablutions are at the the restaurant a short drive away.
14:30 Samil Trip Rough track, gradients, suspension track, high speed track
(This will be a highlight as there might be two Samil 80s and everybody should be able to ride with).
16:00 Departure

Since the day is intended to be a Family Fun Day the activities are planned accordingly.

The sequence of the 4x4 drives that we will do is as follows:

The 4x4 drive will be on gravel, rock, mud and through water in a bushveld area.
Notes: If it is dry and we finish early Gerotek might throw in other experiences at their discretion.
If it is wet then the drive will be more challenging and interesting and will take more time to complete. Then there will not be any time for additional experiences.

2. Level of Experience of Driver (Not all of us are novices, so please be accurate, as this info will be used to determine the groups).
3. Vehicle.
4. Registration number.
5. Number of Passengers.
6. Cell Phone number of driver (This info for my use).
This info will be given to Gerotek Security to facilitate your easy entry into the facility.

The following information is important:

1. Please be on time or preferreably early.
2. Once the drive starts, no late-comers will be entertained.
3. You will not be allowed to drive the route on your own. You will in anyway not know where to go.
4. Wheel-spin is frowned upon.
5. Once the booze comes out the track closes (This rule is also applicable to passengers).
6. Bring your recovery gear.
7. Ladies should wear comfortable shoes.
8. All items in the vehicle must be proprely secured.
9. All persons in vehicles must wear safety belts.
10. No persons allowed on the back of vehicles.
11. Once the drive starts we must remain in the group allocated and in sequence.
12. To start off we will meet at the Gerotek Restaurant.
13. Cameras are allowed on the track.

For an apetiser I have included some pics that I have taken today of the area.
Our host at Gerotek is Mr Piet van der Schyff. He is a technician of note and has a lot of experience. Should anything happen to me - The day is organised and paid for. Enjoy and we might do it again.

For those that might be interested: Gerotek offers Cerified 4x4 Courses at R1450 (incl meals and course material) per driver and R 250 extra for an additional person (for meals). They require a minimun of ten vehicles per course. If anybody is interested let me know please and if we have enough takers I will organise a course for the second half of March 2013.

I am aware that some forum members have drawn in friends to participate. As this forum is my only means of communication with respect to the Gerotek Family Fun Day I request you to keep the non-forum members informed.
