Plastidip

Post by Peter Vee »

My teenage son is into cars like all other lads and has started tarting up his car with wraps etc... anyhow he recently showed me a tin of "plastidip" that he got from builderswarehouse, apparently it is becoming popular very quickly for doing rims and trim bits. He used it to touch up his car's centre console which had scuff marks on and it came out very nicely, in fact looks brand new!

I am going to get a tin this weekend to test it on my bush trailer.

Has anyone here tried it yet?

Regards, Peter V

:mytwocents: Peter, this looks great and I will also try. At the GTR/Z day at Tarlton the other day there was a guy who sold something simular, but said that to do big pieces, one needed a special spray gun and they sold it. The price for the spray gun and 2 gallons of paint with a special cleaner would set you back some R4500. This stuff you have now advised on looks just as good. I have done a lot of painting on the 4x4s using Hammer rite. Especially on the rims, and bumpers it works well. Guys must just make sure that they clean the area with Bensiene and light sand paper

Cool... it is available at Builderswarehouse ... look for it in automotive section and not paints.

My son did 4 coats on the console and it filled out the scratches and chaffe markes perfectly... I plan to try it on my trailer's rims and fittings this weekend... weather permitting.

Cheers,

Peter

Builders in Hendrik Potgieter are out of stock if you are looking for black and to boot they are R144 per can as opposed to the PTA stores R120.

Is everything more expensive in JHB

O - seems spraing with clear lacker afterwards makes it more durable........

Seems their is a bit of a shortage of the stuff at the moment, phoned the supplier, stuff is in container in Durban expected by Friday, they will drop me a mail if in.

Shop is in Horizon so will go straight to the supplier as it is on my route every day.
