Roof rack position?

I have a "half body length" roof rack and I am not sure where the best position on the roof will be the best - noise, fuel consumption and weight spread. Any ideas?

Hey bud. From all the research and articles i've read, if you have a half rack you must mount it as far back as possible (ie: starting just above your rear door line). But then again, you should never trust what you read in SA 4wd magazines, the guys who write those articles sometimes just leave me shaking my head in dismay.

I agree with placing it at the back, if for no other reason than these two:
1) The strongest roof pillar is the rear one.
2) This makes access easier.

the dark blue is the highest concentration of air flow resist .. at the back is best

ALSO - if you put weight on the "A" pilars [the front ones Arries .. die voorste pilare] and you go through a dip or jump, the front pilars, not being upright, WILL and SHALL crack. Guaranteed
