Valid point... ORRA have run out of licenses that they may allocate

They've requested additional licenses from ICASA - let's hope that happens soon. I'll find out if people who are affected by this situation can get their radios programmed in the mean time...

I've spoken to the ORRA folks and they say that people who have completed their applications (and paid the necessary monies) are welcome to bring their radios to the ORRA radio day next month to have them programmed. Rina will be present to ensure that you aren't turned away because you don't have a license yet.

Another problem facing all new applicants is that the ORRA licenses are valid for the ICASA financial year, which runs from beginning of April to end of March. That means that some people may (see, it's a big "may"!) end up paying for a license they'll never receive, and then receive a renewal notice from ORRA for that very same license they never had! :naughty:

This is clearly not acceptable, so she'll be talking to ICASA about that as well. In the mean time there's not much we can do but be patient...

Still worthwhile to get the new frequencies programmed while ORRA & ICASA sort their troubles out...
