Found my Trol
Hi guys
I have always love these trols , got my friend to buy one , ways looking at cruisers and 3.0 tdi but ended with a 4.2d 1999 baby and i love her . Came from a 2.5xt forester ( Hot , like fast ) so it is a dit of getting used to . I have some plan for my trol , like a steel bumper and steel rim and a turbo normalizer but not now.
I must say the treads on this forum help in making sure i wanted a 4.2d
thanks guys

Re: Found my Trol
Congrats Jan
Hope you bought this vehicle for the right reasons. A bit of a dog in city traffic ( you need to have lots of patience!) and not much of a sand dune basher either BUT when it comes to rock climbing and overland traveling through Africa, you could hardly have done any better. Use it for what it was intended to do, service it when services are due and it will outlast you by hundreds of thousands of km's.
Not to sure what you meant by a turbo "normalizer" but rather err here on the conservative side. Not all 4.2D's were built to be compatible with turbos and unless you are an expert who can tell the difference, you just may regret this costly exercise. Be warned and be afraid - be very afraid! Never compromise on the reliability of your vehicle.

Re: Found my Trol
Congratulations Jan
Very wise words from Kobus, although as far as I am concerned, it keeps up with the traffic just fine.
But do take it off-road regularly, to remind yourself why you bought it.

Re: Found my Trol
Well done, you have bought the right vehicle/ once you have driven this for a while you dont want to drive anything else. It is also interesting how others who drive the brand that have the view that they are superior, have respect for a Patrol. One vehicle all want when it gets to 4x4ing. Now you need to come and drive with us

Re: Found my Trol
hi Guys
Thanks for the feedback , i love this van in traffic and everwhere else
the normalizer means your are not boosting or "charge" so in effect it only works when you need it in high altitude ( guys just bear with me , i am part of the DNA "national dyslexic association" ) and then it only give you the power that you have at seelevel . I have had alot of deelings with turbos and like anything you must just use it right.
thanks again guys

Re: Found my Trol
congrats mate !!.... welcome to the 4.2 diesel powerhouse...... I love mine too.... in trafic... on the open road.... blasting ( ok ...ok.... had to work that motor on some of the dunes) through Atlantis dunes, and eating rocky hills for breakfast... funny though... the taxi drivers don't seem to loke my patrol..... can't understand why...
Regards
Cedric
