Khowarib / Sesfontein to Puros circular route

Hi there guys
Read the trip planning and reports on your Namibian excursions.
Did a similar route in 2009 as part of a group. The travel was one way only and we were tenting.
This time around, I plan to take my married kids on an extended 21 to 28 day trip with my Jurgens Explorer in tow.
Needless to say we will not be able to travel all the sand tracks between destinations, but we will visit all the the nice places in Kaokoland, Damaraland and even down south Swakop, Luderitz and everything inbetween. Somehow you have to get from South to North and back, so you might as well plan carefully and visit the noteworthy attractions en route.
So...
Obviously I do not intend towing my caravan to Puros, but rather leave it at Khowarib or Sesfontein for a day or two.
Then we intend driving up to Puros the one day and back down to Khowarib / Sesfontein the other.
Maybe even set up camp somewhere in the riverbed for the one night...This is to at least give the kids an idea of what it's REALLY like to go camping...
The question is:
Do I drive the "2 spoor" of 100km on the first day and set up camp in Puros for the night...
Then drive the riverbed track of 200km back to Sesfontein the next day... or visa versa?
I reckon my 135L on board plus 40L in jerry cans would be enough fuel for the round trip - yes?
I worked on 3km per L in the sandy conditions.
On day 3 we intend driving the 300km further up to Epupa falls.
Another question that comes to mind...
On the previous trip we stayed at Khowarib community camp (38km South East of Sesfontein jut past Warmquelle) and it was very nice indeed.
Only filled up with fuel at Sesfontein and had a beer.
Shall I travel the extra distance to the camp I know or is Sesfontein a good bet?
All input will be highly appreciated - thanks!
And for those who are interested I can share more of the trip planning as we go along, as we only intend doing the trip around beginning June or late July 2012.
