Hi Guys
My aircon pump is not sounding well - I believe the front bearing is in need of early retirement.
Has any one any tips or advice on removal and getting it serviced?? Is this a DIY and get someone to gas it thereafter or what ....?

Chris , make sure its the pump , the idler pulleys are normally the first to go , if its the pump yes it can be a DIY if youre workshop is decently kitted - youll def need an iarcon refilling station to renove the gas efore you pull the pump and then regas afterwards , its a real mees not to mention illegal to let the gas out in the atmosphere and in your engine bay

I think its the idler pulley bearing - when you turn the aircon on the noise decreases quite a lot. Is it neccessary to remove the whole unit to change teh bearing or can this be done fitted. Where can I find the instructions/procedures for such a task...?

Nope, you don't have to remove the pump. Just undo the retaining and adjustment bolt on the pulley, note the sequence of the washers and spacers and press the bearing out with a press or socket and vice . I think it's a 6301, the average spare shop even have them
