1984 Safari 2.8 Station Wagon for sale
Posted: 25 Aug 2011 14:09
Background:
I bought this vehicle in December 2008. I have used it mainly for over landing trips. As far as I know I am the 4th owner.
The following was done on the vehicle:
- A carburettor service was done by SP Carbs (22/08/2011)
- The gearbox and transfer box oil was replaced (+/- 4500 kms ago - used EP SAE 90)
- The diff oil on both the from and rear differentials have been replaced (EP SAE 90 oil front diff and LSX SAE 90 for the rear diff)
- Major service done +/- 8000 kms ago.
- The prop shafts were balanced in October 2010 (+/- 4500 kms ago)
- Aircon replaced December 2010 (value R 6,500.00)
- Wheel bearings checked October 2010
- Clutch was inspected but not replaced as it is still fine.
- The loading bay and back window rubbers were replaced to make it more dust proof and reduce rattles.
Other modifications (I purchased the vehicle with the following mods):
- The fuel tank has been modified to be a long range tank (it holds approximately 130 litres).
- The engine was redone (+/- 20000 kms ago)
- It is fitted with a 38 Webber carburettor and a Donaldson filter
- It has branches and a free flow exhaust (for better fuel consumption)
- Spare wheel carrier mounted at back of the vehicle.
Issues:
- The vehicle has rust, but not excessive
- The breather on the tank needs attention as the pressure build-up in the tank is too high.
- The choke cable from inside the cabin is not linked to the carburretor
- The aircon switch needs to be replaced (it only works on setting 3, blowing like a hurricane)
Comments:
I have many fond memories of this vehicle. I have to sell it because I don't use it enough (the occational trip to the roadhouse for ice-cream doesn't count as use!).
Asking price R 30,000.00 or nearest cash offer.
