Total novice so some advise please?
We are going to Namibia In April and I presume that cellular connections will be minimal
Our Business is not closing so it is imperative that should they need to get hold of us in an emergency
they can reach us.

Would a Sat phone work?
How does the airtime work , is it expensive?
Should we rent or buy?
What are the best phones?

(a) do some homework - get a map layout of ALL the cell phone nets in Nam & neigbouring countries if you plan to go near or cross borders [Botswana, for one]
(b) Determine how much of your travels wil be inside those areas of coverage and how much[in terms of time] OUTSIDE
(c) Then decide if you need extra coverage for the times outside normal reception
(d) Hire a SATNAV from RENIER BALT [tell him Oom Mac referred you] 012 - 253 0898.

Nami "roaming" time is VERY expensive - take an 'open' phone and buy a starter pack & air time in Nam [by die eerste beste winkel wat lugtyd verkoop - EN vra die locals watter diens gee di ebeste dekking]

Aun6y,

I often travel to Botswana and Namibia on business. I visit remote areas where mining is taking place and where itis going to take place. Oom Mac' suggestion is the best. Get a local pay as you go. Far cheaper and the best option.
