COST OF PATROL PARTS - AGAIN!
Hi Everybody,
Please allow for an old bugger to complain - again! Now that I am in pension mode, I am fed up with the crazy 'parts costs' of Nissan agents, and determined to find a way out?
This time I need a 'brakes overhaul', and before we tackle this I want to find out what or where I can look for pads, etc...etc.
Discs I can do locally at independents.
Oom Mac, ek lees amper daagliks oor jou frustrasies, en ons almal stem saam met jou! Ek dink ons moet begin by jou vir oplossing of hoe?
Ons moet ook nie bang wees nie, om buite die grense to probeer?
Sterkte almal.

The brake pads are available in aftermarket at any sparepart dealer....Midas etc.

Also try Power Brake in Pretoria. Spoke to them last week and they already have most of the pads and discs available for the Trolls

Interesting!
The pricing of both front discs and pads was exactly the same from Barlowworld as Powerbrakes, and this included delivery, whereas Powerbrakes would have added this on (courier charges about R500).
Total cost by independents for installation (including discs and pads for R4600, and VAT) was R7000.

Just did a major service : Brakes ,belts and all the oil . Nissan should be ashame about there part prices . They are busy forcing us to non geniune parts . . Think there marketing people would promote Nissan sales and parts sales instead the are chasing all there clients away to other manufaturers .
Hope they wakeup in 2011

Please do me a favour, and let us know what did you do to the brakes and how much did 'they' ( I assume agents?) charge?
It is important to compare apples with apples, and also to let others know exactly what these related charges are for all to see?
I think in this way, we will get a better perspective of what we are all complaiing about? I personally find my own independent is VERY competent, always helpful and caring, and you feel part of the team!

While on the subject of the cost of parts, I recently visited my local Nissan dealer as the tyre fitment place I used sheared off the locking bolt on the spare wheel, the casting appeared to be inferior.
Hoping to buy I new one and having just bought a patrol I figured why not just get one from the dealer....just shy of R700 for a bolt! And that's without the locking cylinder and keys. Right now sourcing a welder to repair the old one! I sincerely hope all part prices are not this crazy!
Any service advice / prices please post as I am about to service through my local mechanic and do a 90k service....fingers crossed.

Ja ons voel almal vir jou, en ek is oortuig ons wat Nissan mense is, moet die pryse op the forum sit, sodat ander dit kan sien? Terloops, ek het self die pads fabriek getoer, en al die pads lyk vir my of hulle op presies dieselfde manier vervaardig word! (los die naam uit vir nou). Ek gaan beslis na die Etude pads kyk, (vir the agterste disks), gelukkig het ek nog 'n bietjie tyd.
Maar my probleempie is maar klein, wat van julle wat massiewe onkostes moes dra?
Om so half simpel te wees, wil ek voostel ons maak a "Nissan Kliniek en Hospitaal"! Raadgewend, en prakties!
Ek lees daagliks oor hoe baie van die ouens soek vir raad, (en soms simpatie), ens, en snaaks genoeg, kry ek die gevoel dat parte en 'spares' nie altyd die grootste probleem is nie, maar swak diens en belaglike onkostes van die agente se kant, om hulle paleise te onderhou?
Ook, benei ek julle ondervinding and bekwaamheid, maar vir 'n ou ballie soos ek, is dit maar neusie verby om nou te begin leer! Miskien net dop hou en oor die skouer kyk?
Gelukkig kry ons af en toe sommige onafhanklikes wat ons red - dankie Vader vir hulle!

Duidelik ry ek nie lank genoeg met 'n voertuig nie, want selfs my Disco 1 Tdi met 230 000 km is nog nie naby aan disks vervang nie!
Is die remskoene van die Etude wat pas op die agter remme van die Patrol ook die agterste remskoene van die Etude?
Ek stem saam - ons moet begin met 'n index waar ons die nissan beskrywing en part nommer insit en dan die alternatiewe vervaardiger of verskaffer se naam en part nommer bysit.
