Hi has anybody, here on the forum fitted a boost gauge to their 3.0D . I see the Ozzies says its essential for the 3.0D
Where do you buy it?
Whats the advantages off checking the boost?
Has any local guy blocked off their EGR on the 3.0D?
On mine, I have fitted an EGT gauge , intercooler fan and would like to block off the EGR and fit a boost gauge .

Hi Koos,
Do you have any pictures of your EGT setup?

Hi Stefan, I got my thermo couple and gauge from Zenith Instruments Durban. Its a 489 IND GAUGE set to raed Deg. Cent.
We fitted the thermocouple in situ post turbo approx 40-50mm , drilled a hole and braced the fitting on. As you can see I dont have the haet shield back , struggled to make a hole and fit it back , will do maybe at a later stage.
The power for the gauge I took staight of the radio, I also changed the radio cause the Clarion 6 cd shuttle gave me some trouble , so that why I had the space to fit the gauge . Its a non audible alrm gauge, the whole set up cost me R800.00 .
I have changed my way of driving and towing, for example where I usually went up in fith gear, theres ample power I,now gear back to fourth and the temp. fall instantaneously by 100deg and then lift my foot if it near 500deg.
What I realised the worst thing must be to tow with speed control, cause it give more fuel so EGT will sky rocket.

Also fitted the fan, bought from MIDAS, R100.00 later incl a relay, it runs permanetly.

Nice addition Koos. It's a wonder Nissan don't add an EGT as standard.

What's that supposed to mean?

Because alterations and additions cost money and take up plenty of R&D time and Nissan like doing things that make no sense. The ZD30 engine has a dismal reliability history in the patrol and I'm guessing there are few marques that would stick with it like Nissan have.

Yes , whats that suppose to mean. Its a nice engine , I enjoy it more than the 4.2d I had.
Isnt there anybody on this forum that can tell us how to fit and where to source a boost gauge here in the RSA.

@Koos: No need to get defensive here....Read my last post for the meaning.....I'm sure you are enjoying your ZD30, especially since it's in a GU shape!! There's nothing wrong with the the way it performs when it works. I'm not being funny here...these are just the facts. Apparently after 2005 the % of them that melt their pistons is dramatically reduced as opposed to the pre-2005 models.
As far as the EGT gauge goes it seems to be a pretty easy install if you have a place to screw the probe into you manifold, sourcing them is another story, but Ross installed one on his TD42T and it was like under R1000 for the parts. I'll mention it to him tonight and ask him to post the details. In the meantime look if you have a blanked off threaded hole in your manifold where you can insert the probe, if you don't the you will have to have on tapped in.
