So after driving Jongosi the 1st around, I could not shake a compulsion to upgrade to a newer model that could be used as a daily driver.

In the end I took a chance and drove through to 2 weekends ago Groot Marico to view the following Trol listed on the forums' own market place:

1998 4.2 GL diesel Metallic brown
117 000 km - Original kilo's - full service history
Long range stainless steel fuel tank
Alpine Low preassure Turbo (I had it fitted in June 2009 and only done about 3000km since)
EGT gauge
Old Man Emu suspension (I had fitted in June 2009 and only done 3000 km since)
Dual battery system - added battery is a camp (dry cell) battery
T MAx winch
ARB replacement Bumper
IPF Extreme Sport Spots
Bridgestone Dueler AT Tyres
Replacement Fuel Tank
Pioneer frontloader CD with USB connection
6 Disc Cd Shuttle
Takla Seat Covers
Original steel rims

The moment I sat in the drivers seat (after a brief inspection) I was sold, as to was swambo!

Attached are the pics I took of the new Trol (Jongosi the 2nd - the name for now) .... I took ownership of her this morning :woo:

I've got a few additional accessories in mind, tyres, roofrack, snorkel, window tint... so the adventure has only just begun!!

Jongosi the 1st has also found a new home... with swambo's father :woo: so it's still in the family. He's got his own plans for it so that will be another story at another time. I had the funnest time with her at Groot Marico - lots of rain, lots of mud... i'll be uploading those pics are under trips, trails and techniques. Patrol's are just fantastic!!!!!!! :salute:

Congrats Dave, may she give you thousands of care free kilo's. I was also completely sold on Moolman's vehicle but the timing was just not right but you seem a real Patrol gentleman so look after it for 4 - 5 years then sell it to me :woo:

Are you keeping Jongosi 1 or have you sold it?

Shalom
Jules

Jules I sold the GQ to my g/f's father, so really happy it's still in the family. The old man has many years of 4x4 experience, having owned 3 sani's in his life time, travelling the richtersveld and namibia numerous times in the 80s and 90s. He hasnt done much in the last 10-15 years and my "youthful exuberance" seems to have re-ignited his overlanding enthusiam. He is thus a complete nissan fan, and now the proud owner of Jongosi!

He had it the suspension of Jongosi looked at last week, turns out the knuckle heads were completely shot and just heavily greased, so those have been redone. He has also replaced all bushes, the panhard rod, tie rod ends, the works.

Also, turns out I was driving it with just 60% - 70% power due to a faulty distributor, one completely dead wire in plug 4 and timing that was way out. I drove it after work today... I cannot believe the performance change!!!!! I just love the petrol, the 4.8 must be insane!! also... the wobble is completely gone... steering feels solid and precise. All in all the cost was R19K, all genuine nissan parts.

So couldnt resist taking the following picture in the driveway this evening

Sorry Mayhem - more rear end shots

With such low mileage I intend on keeping her for a long, long time.. besides, the 4x4's of today imho are WAY to soft!

All the best

Dave
