Looking for a new steering damper, mine is kaput, .....i'm not keen on purchasing the likes of OME,IM,TJM,etc etc,...as i imagine they not gonna be cheap. My truck handles well even with my current one in bad condition so i cant see myself needing anything more than your run of the mill damper,...Any ideas what i should get and from where, also if you know estimated prices that would help me too.

Thanks boys.

Ps: out of interst, the ozzy boys all run hectic steering dampers (i imagine for the intability fed through the steering colmn associated with lifets more than 4 inches, but why do they have coil over shocks in there?

I think the coil over sock assist more with a return to center portion. I like the idea of a adjustable damping unit which could be changed for tar or for dirt, maybe Konis have one that will suffice.
Check out a previous post of mine on steering dampers, I think Kagiso got one from the SupaQuick at a very reasonable price.

My 5 cents:
I have my opinions on some of the dampers sold by the big names, simple matching of length is not good enough for me.
I'm certain under normal conditions the Nissan part had better damping than the big name , even during operation the Nissan Part had better damping.
I'm also curious as to the working of a damper that was designed to work upright that need to work on it's side now.

You reckon a normal Gabrial Safari or Gas Magnum will do the trick? i'll pay the auto spare shops a visit tomorrow. Ps: how much does a OME/TJM/IM etc go for? R???

Phoned Steve at Koni yesterday. Apparently Koni does not offer a steering damper. Pitty as I am in the market for one as well.

An OME steerind damper costs R 1703.94 full retail VAT inc.It is defiantly better than any factory or after market unit from your local supplier.

ok , i didnt get too far with solving this yet, and midas certainly dont keep patrol dampers of any make. will try other outlets soon as. Another thing, i'm acquiring more and more interest with regard to the RTC damper. What benefit would this produce over traditional damper? your thoughts please? Perhaps the boys find it eliminates death wobble ?
