Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

The PO(previous owner) had a set of loose carpets in the Patrol. They are "fitted" carpets and assume it's Nissan product, however both the driver and passenger tend to lift up right at the bend from floor to firewall and creates a bump. I think it's dangerous to drive with a loose carpet moving under your feet. Hoe do you fix your carpet and straighten it?

Does anyone have Escape's rubber mats and whats the fit like, do they stay in place?

I have aftermarket (read Makro ) carpets and they curl up at the door, so I tuck them under the hard plastic floor sill.

Whould love to know whether the mats supplied by Nissan (~R1200 at last enquiry) behaves better.

There are always Auto-trimmers that can help.

PS. If I knew how to edge the carpets I'd make some myself.

Ibought a brand new carpet set for my wife's Pajero from Mistsibushi for R57-00 - yes that was the price - for a 8 piece set.

R57? even the carpets for my Drifer bakkie was R500 for the complete set (front & back)

Had the same problem on my hugely expensive genuine Nissan shaped/custom carpets.

So... I cut & glued some of that non-slip boot mat stuff underneath them. It sorted out the tendency of the mats to fold/bend and also helps them stay put on the floor.

I used plain old contact adhesive to glue them together. Only smeared it on the underside of the carpet, then left it until just before it became dry to the touch (not the way the tin says to use it!) and pressed the non-slip onto it. Then I put a large flat board on top of the mat and weighed it down until everything was nice and dry.

That way the contact adhesive squished into the square openings of the non-slip stuff and ended up holding onto it so much better. If you join them together too early you get contact adhesive on the bottom side of the non-slip and they don't grip properly, do it too soon and the non-slip stuff does not grip properly to the floor...
