Thanks,
I'm going to order today. Do Master parts stock head bolts and can you recall how many are needed? I forgot to count them this morning.

Frans, I was just going through the parts list from Masterparts. I see that the piston they quoted on were for Motrex Alfin pistons. I presume this is the same as a half keystone piston with the Alfin rings. Is this the right or wrong piston?

I want to order the parts tomorrow if you say that all is ok with the quote Masterparts sent me. I'll add the head bolts to the order. They say they can deliver to Swambo's branch in Montague. Then they will send it up straight away. Depending on the weight they might add it to a shipment and send it up airfreight, or if the cost is too much, they will courier it in 2 days. I need to get moving on this as i leave for Mozambique on the 8th September, and still want to run the motor in before we leave :surprised:

What do I ask for regarding the small end bushes. Due to the gudgeon pins being 30mm, is this now a standard bush?

Good Luck Cedric!!

We`re all holding thumbs for a smooth sailing rebuild!!

Remember to sort out a better location for the EGT probe while you've got everything out of the vehicle, and easily accessible!!

Cheers,

Ross

Ross you can say that again... both on the holding thumbs side and the EGT sensor!!

Cedric, I've booked for Pomene in the first week of November. I'm sure with Frans' assistance Iron Maiden is going to get you there on the 8th!! We can perhaps run shifts to get her run in on time

Cheers mate

i personally think you pretty hard core to rebuild this motor on your own, or via the net, you got balls mate, i'd like to think i could do this myself, but hope i never have to,you have my respect. One thing for sure is that you will know your motor in and out by the time you finnish this rebuild, which will help you in future should something small give up the ghost, and that kind of experience you can't buy, well, besides the parts of course  , all the best mate, and most of all , take photos , its invaluable to the rest of us in the 4.2 club.
