This is the clip that I watched about 30 times before going to Moegatle this weekend.
Not that it helped one bit!
I think the Cruiser driver was less afraid of hitting his body on the left bank, so he could go closer to that side.
Perhaps also his departure angle allowed him to reverse again a few times, whereas I got pinned on my towbar.
Does anyone have video material, or pictures of the front of the recovery?
The two winches that did the recovery I think might be very insightful.
P.S.
Are we not perhaps nearing the record for most number of posts on a single thread?

Alex you actually went quite high before falling back ...thats why your towbar balance happend....to be very honest with you if i had to use so much brute force to do a obsticle ....i dont want to do it any more really .....that cruiser was lucky and to me i dont see us rolling like that

@ Alex. Ek het 'n clip waar jy opry. Die enigste clip van die recovery sal by Charles wees. Hy het sy go-pro op 'n stand gehad. Die res van ons het agter Christo se Patrol gaan staan toe die recovery begin.

The first one, with the wheel in the air.
I still need to figure out where my torque has gone.
I distinctly remember 2 years ago, I had much more power to give.
This time my foot was flat on the floor while the revs still continued to go down. Hy was besig om dood te trek.
That was scary, because at that moment Alex told me, "Nou moet jy aangaan", I cannot go back down again. I was too far up.
Alex, I have noticed a couple of times on this outing and ons some others that your Patrol stalls quite easy at low rpm, maybe its worh taking it for a dyno tune again?
I agree that there should be way more torque low end......specially from a v8
I have chatted to a few people, and I think this may have to do with fuel starving at that angle.
My fuel tank was only at less than a quarter when I went up.
I still had juice in the sub tank that I should have pumped accross during the day.
Also contributing perhaps is that my current settings is probably too lean at low revs to make the car more economical in traffic.
Which may be why the engine stalls a bit too easily. Before I go to a dyno again, I will have people that knows this engine and what it should be capable of doing, to drive it a bit to judge for themselves if I am getting the power I should.
Having a Dastek variable setting chip on my dashboard is also an option, but then one has more electronics ontop of one another, and more things that can fail in the bush. So not too keen on that.
