Die episode gaan aan......
Gister ry ek in daardie warm Pretoria se stad. En daar gaan die naaldjie; nie tot heel warm nie, maar hy mik noord.
Ry toe tot hier in Springs. Terwyl hy ry is hy koud, wanneer ek stop gaan daardie naald noord.
Was uiteindelik so 4pm by Silverton Radiators, doen weer 'n carbon toets. Raai wat..... negatief. Na 45min se idle bly daardie vloeistof net so blou soos die see by Mosambiek.
Die trollie maak my gat hang soos 'n bang hiena.

Interesting one this is..... that does make sense if the pipes are blocked. If the viscous is working properly it still will not get the water sufficiently cool.
But something that caught my eye is that you said that your EGT did not go over 370deg C !!!!.... Is your temp (EGT) probe pre turbo or post turbo?? If post turbo, then it makes a bit better sense to me as you can add around 100 to 150 deg C onto that temperature at the exhaust ports of the head. Mine ( ok it is the 4.2 but same principal applies) is before the turbo, and on a slight uphill, I quickly get the EGT's to hit between 480 and 520. My alarm is set for 630deg C, but VERY VERY seldom let it get up past 610deg C ( for short bursts ).
I would check that that reading is accurate, as you don't want to be towing uphill and working that motor into the 650 - 700deg C and its only showing 370dec C. I might be on the wrong track though as I really don't know the ZD30 motor at all.
Grant on his 4.2 battled a bit with water temps climbing, and after having a new BIGGER radiator built and fitted, his temps are way low..... almost too low as the thermostat is now working more than before to regulate the temps to optimal running temps. I also have a huge radiator in my Iron Maiden, and even if climbing a hill, with aircon on full, under load, in heavy traffic or where ever.... my temp stays at a fraction below halfway.
good luck mate... but I think you may have solved the water temp issue

Thanks Ricster.
Where can I have a larger radiator made? Because I am nearly at the point of repulsing Repulse out the gate for something more reliable.
The EGT Probe is after the turbo.

Ahhhh.... EGT after turbo... makes better sense now.... difficult to monitor for accuracy in my opinion, but just be aware of the temp difference between pre and post turbo temps. I know this as my EGT gauge monitors both temps and I would work on an average of 130 - 150 deg C difference. So 400 deg C on yours + 150 = 550 Deg C, which is still fine.
My radiator came out of a ( I was told this, so not 100% sure) Cabstar truck, so scrap yard hunting can be an option. Second option, Silverton radiators can build you one. Grant had his made up, but he is still on leave and not sure if he will see this to assist you. It was quite an expensive exercise if I remember correctly, to have it made up.
Have a chat to a Silverton Radiators close to you, and maybe take a look at this thread, there are some measurements etc that I posted....

BEN reckons that a BMW 7 series radiator is the answer ..

But will it fit with minimal mods. The cowling on mine fits perfect into the threaded holes and covers perfect over the radiator veins. If it can work, then go for it, as those 4L straight 6 diesels or the v8 or 5L V12 motor must also develop huge heat!!
Those are AWESOME engines !!!!
