I was very surprised, as this is the original Hardbody ratio, and I was worried sick that I would have to do a ratio change, but got lucky to get the same off the Patrol.
Hi David..are you saying that the Nissan hardbody 4.88 ratio crown wheel and pinion will fit onto a patrol...??
Sorry Wilkie, I missed this thread totally. Did I miss the post where you actually state what diff\s you have in your Patrol. I am presuming it is H233 front and H260 rear.
I don't know how the H233 diffs differ from year 96 (HB) to whatever your Patrol has... Is a H233 a H233 no matter of year model?
I found some good information on the NPORA forum regarding diffs, but it was obviously more biased to the Pathfinders. May be worthwhile reading and get yourself as confused as I did
http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/ ... na-manual/
May actually have some relevant info if you are indeed running the H233 diff. They say it was a better/stronger diff than the C200.
As a side note, the H260 seems comparable to the Dana60's and 80's. Not much out there with better than 37 spline and 1.51" side shafts. But as mentioned by someone else, that pumpkin is huge. I think I am still worse off with my 33" tyres with the H260 compared to the C200 on 31" tyres, in the clearance department. Only thing I am thinking may be an advantage, is the offset pumpkin... At least it will not be right on top of the "middle mannetjie"

Can someone explain this to me
It says that the 4.8 manual uses the 4.375 ratio, while the auto uses the 3.5 ratio.
That is a heck of a difference, for the same engine, almost the same gearbox ratios, and same weight?

I just realised,
the gearboxes cannot have the same ratios.
That is probably were it evens out again.

just some more info::::the 4.8 manual with the 4.375 diffs are much bigger than the 4.5L auto 's diff although the ratios are the same....
that 4.8 diffs are massive and I think will that any abuse from any powerplant

Maybe the 4.5 auto got h233 diffs front and back, instead of the huge h260 rear diff.....? Im not sure.
The 4.5 manual also got the huge h260 rear diff...

Pumpkin is around 320mm high and from pinion to back of pumpkin it's around 480mm.
