Would you be able to tow a Sani with the right tyres on, through there?

I've been watching this trip on the Community forum for a few years now. Thinking if I started collecting now, I might just be able to make it happen next year.

I towed a Landy out of there so I am sure we will be able to assist with the Sani

Cost is basically feul, food and drink so one can budget fairly accurately

That's what I like about the trip. No "hidden" costs.

I would also like to do the trip next year but obviously like all the other guys have to plan ahead.
is there some sort of breakdown of the cost of this trip?

1. Round trip mileage
2. accommodation/fees to go into the park
3. food and beverage

Michael,
1)The general area is approx. 450km from Gauteng and you can do up to 120km in heavy river sand conditions. Thus 1000km.
2)No park fees or entry fees, This is rural tribal land. Usually a contribution is made to the local tribes to improve relations.
3)You pack the same as for unsupported overland trip. Totally self sufficient with food , water , fuel and the odd german milkshake.

Camping on river sand every night with a big fire.

We never felt unsafe , but the threat of crime is present as there are a lot of villages along the river.
I doubt if any criminal will take on a bunch of Patrol drivers though. :rolling:

It is still a long time before the water will be low enough. I cannot wait.

1. Round trip mileage - for yourself 460km highway; 252km secondary ; 100km thick sand - for Molototsi river if we add little Letaba add 25km secondary and 70km thick sand aprx 1000km
2. accommodation/fees to go into the park - R0
3. food and beverage R? - what ever you intend eating and drinking ; menu basically as follows, breakfast coffee and rusks; brunch at 10h00 egs, bacon etc ; dinner we braai and then refreshements from water, colddrink and "bruin fanta"

:oldtimer: As previously mentioned :oldtimer:

There is no compulsory fee, this is Government land used by the PB for their cattle and water. One can make a donation if one wants to but NOT COMPULSORY!!

Previously it was found that if money is given to the Chief nobody else see it....

We pass by aprx 6 "Vilages" so to stop by each one and give something also not possible.

Other option is to give to a local charity that works in the community then hopefully money is spend as intended....

Or take old clothes etc and if you see locals in the river bed just give it to them, but this may lead to future begging from locals or demanding something from vehicles so not sure if this is a good idea.

Other groups dont do anything and just enjoy the trip so if we do it under the Nissan banner the Cedric needs to step in here and maybe make a decision.

4x4 Action Group we paid R400 PER VEHICLE which they used for stickers and the rest was donated.
Landrover guys just did the trip.
Isuzu guys just did the trip.
