Are you referring to your Petrol Patrol or your Diesel?
Something seriously wrong if its Petrol so I am sure you are speaking of your Diesel?

On the topic of consumption, mine being super-charged, I am getting 6.5 to 7.0 average if I keep under 160, around 150 indicated is a happy compromise between performance and consumption.

I find the Patrol perfectly stable at 200 plus and will corner her at those speeds without trepidation.

I find the brakes on the Patrol to be somewhat disappointing, they really dont do a good job of slowing the Patrol down from higher speeds, so a brake upgrade will be on the horizon..

If you are looking at upgrade of your brakes, sĂȘe www.powerbrake.co.za.

They offer great discs and upgraded callipers. I think an upgrade to those 6 pot callipers will work wonders on Patrol brakes. It is all locally made, works out much cheaper than imported upgrade and will possibly be better too....

I towed trailers with building material into Lesotho with my Hilux and had to do the Powerbrake update for the mountains, it really is good and makes a huge difference!

Zerubabel went to dealers today to have difflocks solenoid replaced but still not working.

Any other known reasons why diff lock won't engage properly.

Secondly they replaced airbags on a recall. Are you guys aware of an airbag recall. Just for clarity sake it is a 2008 4.8

You know sometimes you must kick yourself!

Ian test drove a few Patrols for me and I go outside of his recommendation. Why? Just for better looks. Neater seats etc.

One of the things Ian specifically tested was the diff lock so I buy one that he never tested and now the dealer is battling to get diff lock to work.

Eisch! Already two trips to Brits and now they want the car for a few days.

How complicated is that if they are not close to you!

Hannes, this is NOT a Amarok or a Range Rover. You need to get away from the dealer mentality. They don't understand this product, because none of us take our cars to them anymore.

There are a few possible options WRT what is going on with the diff lock, depending on exactly in what way it isn't working.
1) It may be as simple as a perished or disconnected vacuum hose.
2) It could be the light switch in the diff (IE the locker itself may be working but the light isn't coming on).
3) It could be the switch on the dash.
4) It could be the control box which ensures that you can't engage the locker when in 2wd, and disconnects the ABS. This is situated in the dash, above the glove box.

Take it to either Graham Cummings (G-Tech motors in Valhalla) or Ant (ant's Custom Shop).

Hi Peter !

Yes I know the only reason I took it to them is that it is an issue from day 1. They sold the car to me like that and I felt it is their responsibility to sort out but I will ask Anthony to do it for me!

Hi they are more than happy to fix. Just I am lazy to take it to them. They have done nothing wrong.

I would ask them to fetch your vehicle & supply you with a "rental" from their stock on the floor till its fixed.
