I'm not after performance by installing the 3" pipe, as it needs to be done, want to be pro-active for when the turbo comes in a few months, then the exhaust is sorted.
Now, you guys is going to give me a hard time but the inline pump is being fixed so it is staying, not ideal but that is what it is.
There have to be at least one turbo with an inline pump in Africa as well, can't be all down under, challenge coming up
Block is currently in the boring machine, they going to bore it and fit the new sleeves this afternoon. Will go take some pictures tomorrow.

Good news Rudolph!!
The only problem with the inline pump and a turbo is that the inline pump's fuel is not controled by a lever like on the VE pump, but via vacuum behind the butterly on the intake.
Now if you add a turbo you will no longer have any vacuum there but boost so the pump can no longer give more fuel.
I am sure there is a way around it, but I have never worked on one of those

From what I've seen about the inline pumps is that the governor is vacuum driven, so advancing the fueling under boost is not possible.
It is possible to convert the governor to a mechanical system using some parts from a Mercedes A606 injector pump, but it's pretty complicated and time consuming, so that means the cost of the conversion far out weighs purchasing a Bosch VE style rotary pump with an aneroid fitted.
That being said, some guys have found SD33T inline injector pumps which are the factory mechanically governed versions of the pumps found on the old GQ Patrol TD42's.
I'm pretty sure they're rarer than hens' teeth in SA, so rather just go the Zexel (Bosch VE style) rotary pump route, because spares are more common and likely cheaper than rebuilding the inline pumps.
Just for interest sake here's a some videos I found of the conversion of the inline pump, as well as a video of how the boost compensator (ALDA) would work on those pumps :

From what I could gather, is that the way around it, is that the pipe at the back of the pump still goes to the throttle body and the pipe closer to the pump need to be fitted post turbo so that it sees boost, original in NA setup this pipe is connected to the airbox. The inline pump is good only for low boost application, down under, which is good for your option to get out of donkey mode.
Other thing I have read on Patrol4x4.com, they claim the inline pump give better low rev performance where the VE pump gives better higher rev range performance.

The Block is almost done busy with some final touches, the engineering shop left 2 thou to be honed then they finished.
Some pictures below, they bored the block and took away 0.5mm to fit the new sleeves. The sleeve ID was cut away 1.1mm to fit the new pistons.

Hi Rudolph
Nou voel ek darem redelik sleg oor Betsie se motor. Jy moes laat weet het, ek het redelik goeie kontakte by Alert, kon gehelp het. Maar die plus side, daai motor is darem vreeslik sexy so KAAL!!
Groete
Andre

Geen probleem Andre! Ons het darem reggekom op ou einde met al die parte. Sal laat weet as daar nog iets is waar hulp benodig word.
