His name is Faisal, I think....but you can call everybody friend in Dubai.
If you want the reversing camera, etc DVD, then in the same area, towards Hyatt regency you will see shops selling the Kenwood, Sony, and Pioneer headunits. You will have to figure out connecting to the stock wiring loom, but that is not hard, you can either cut wires of get a adapter from ebay
I have swapped mine out for a Kenwood CD/USB/Bluetooth unit, did not want DVD. it is the slimmer size unit, and works well. I also like my navigation to be separate from the stereo, because I don't want stereo to fail, which takes out the navigation, ofcourse these days we have mobiles that can do everything. This is my 3rd kenwood headunit, again I am too used to the software controls layout to move on to Sony/Pioneer/Alpine, although they are all good.
If you want better sound, change your speakers and run them off another amp, don't need a bass box, this makes a HUGE difference, but it is a bit of work to get all the cabling, requires an understanding handbrake (wife)
You can check prices for these goodies on
http://www.souq.com which is a local online market place. Also if you are near any of these shops, Emax, Jumbo, Carrefour, you can pickup a stereo, it will be legit, with warranty and at a good price, and no need to bargain.

We do not get it here in SA. How do it connect to the door? Drill the holes and insert rivnuts or do they remove the inner panel of the small back door and put a nut on the inside. Rivnut sound easier, but do not know if it will be strong enough.
Example of a rivnut:

I did my own mounting, just placed the jerry can holder, and driller the holes. Goes through with ease. Then used 2 strips of wood behind the panel for added rigidity and spreading the load. Did not bother with silicon bead, water ingress here is not an issue, no lakes/rivers to cross :)

Which is the Kenwood model you have fitted can it take a reverse camera and does it connect via blue tooth? Yes think I agree with you about the Nav and I think the mapping would be different down here

I have a KDC-U556BT, but can not take a reverse camera, I think those need to be the double Din units, or the ones with the fold out screens. I did not want to spend big money, as these higher grade ones are a little more delicate and dust here is an issue, especially offroad. IT has Bluetooth, and I have had to use an external microphone from Kenwood to get voice transmission to the other party via phone, as the headunit's inbuilt microphone was not good. You can use any other microphone as well, as long as it is 8 ohms I believe and uses a 3.5mm plug....nokia for example for their car kits use this.
Our Patrols have reversing sensors, and I must admit they work well here, ofcourse not as good as the camera.

Another great upgrade that Wilfred Moore got for me a few years back from UAE was replacement taillights with real lights....hahaha( the ones that fit to the body not the bottom ones on the plastic bumper). They were very reasonable price wise and was a simple plug and play as the connecting plug it right there. Then you have very good lighting from behind !!
Are there a lot of 4.2 diesel and 3.0 diesel Patrols in Dubai, or mostly petrol Patrols?
