I had a chat with Frans ( tour de Frans), and he will hopefully jump in here soon with some good advise.... and especially with the pistons and water movements through the head.... trust me on this... he knows this motor backwards !!

Jip thats the Nissan price for the bare head, a bit high But somehow I do agree don't trust the non genuine head so on that I'll probably not compromise. Its not been turbo'd I've decided to do the turbo conversion seeing that I had to open the motor anyway. The pistons that ae supplies are specifically noted that they are for the TD27T2 according to the engineering shop they are just as good as the factory pistons and I should stay away from other brands in his opinion there are 3 he'd recommend, we're still trying to figure out if the old pistons weren't turbo anyway. Should know that tomorrow. Whats happened to frans?

Hmmm ......those water ports look nice and clean and not blocked at all. Those cracks on the precoms are normal so don't worry about those. The Nissan head will have precoms already fitted. Just remember the torquing of the head is VERY important. There are 26 headbolts and the sequence gets a bit tricky after tightening a few of those bolts...there are so many of them ...ha ha. That's cool that the pistons are for the 2.7 turbo motor.... and I'm sure a lot cheaper too than the 4.2td ones.... Crazy hey?

Frans will look in here soon I'm sure... He said he just hasn't been on here in a while as he is very busy.... hopefully making good money...

Have you got a workshop manual ?

Jip quite alot cheaper even though you need two sets! Its unbelievable, I'm just waiting for the supplies to let me know if he does infact have stock on the pistons at the price he quoted! Sent my manifold in to be rebuild for a garret gt28 turbo. So far with that mod a intercooler and the rebuild and a new huge radiator my budget for everything is working out nicely. I'll post some pics of the sleeves and old pistons later this week, we still haven't been able to figure out What the original pistons are! Hopefully tomorrow they'll be clean enough to get a number off them!

Post a pic of your diesel pump too please. With the turbo now being added, you need to be able to fuel correctly. You might need an android thingy ( boost compensator) to adjust the diesel while boosting.

Just by eye those pistons look like Nissan origionals

Ok guys now I need advice the pistons are still perfect and measure a 30gudgeon pin now I need to know do I just put new rings on and Will it work with the turbo or should I still replace pistons with the turbo ones,or can I buy the turbo rings and Will they fit on my pistons. Head I can get from Nissan at a cool R 12000 PLUS the 1500 for the head bolts. The rest I can get anywhere else. And a complete gasket set can be found where Nissan charges R 5000.

Don't buy the complete gasket set from Nissan..... just the head gasket and the rear main oil seal. All the aftermarket rear main oil seals are different to the Nissan one. You can use the aftermarket seal but with a bit of panelbeating. I don't trust the aftermarket head gaskets either.... Nobody could tell me that it was a Payen gasket so wasn't going to take a chance.... These motors have HUGE compression so its your choice mate
