Theuhan, I've used this stuff on vinyl before: http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-accessor ... rcoal.html. It works very well and is available in is wide range of colours.

Duplicolor also makes a spray product that are specifically designed to be used on rims, again available in various colours...

Dear Valued Customers and Plasti Dip Fanatics We completely understand your frustrations with us and would like to apologise therefore! For those of you who are unaware of the current situation with stock, here it is! Our latest order reached SA on the 22nd of October! In the past it only took 4 days to get from Durban to us, therefore we gave you, our client, a date on which the stock should have been available. We then received notice from our Agents in JHB, that Customs has randomly selected our Shipment for inspection. The inspection was suppose to take place on the 26th of October. Like with everything else inside SARS, this never happened and the inspection only took place on the 5th of November! Since Monday after the inspection was completed, we begged and pleaded with them to get the documentation completed and uploaded so that our stock could be released! We spent another day at Customs today, hoping to resolve this matter, but we failed!!! They have now once again detained our stock for a full price valuation - According to SARS, this means that they want to make sure that we are bringing in the goods at the correct market prices. Now, seeing that Plasti Dip is the only product of its kind available in SA, its going to take some time to prove to them that we are indeed buying it at the correct prices! We are asking once again for your patience with this and to please understand that this is a situation out of our control! Please also forward this mail to your Customers whom are waiting in anticipation for this product to be available. Our new EDI Status, is that goods SHOULD be released by 14 November 2012. Once again, we apologise profusely for this extreme delay in deliveries. Please know that we are doing the best in our abilities to serve you, as our valued customers and we are a long way away from giving up!! Please feel free to leave your responses to this mail Kind Regards Debbie Fourie______________________________________________CDRM (Pty) Ltd T/A Quest Marketing(T)011 763 6253 - (F) 086 561 8660 - (C) 072 506 8085(W) www.plastidipsa.co.za - (E) quest123@vodamail.co.za

Hey guys, new stuff on the market in competition to plastidip. Waiting for samples to arrive in the next few weeks. Major advantage over plastidip is that we should be able to supply at close to half the price. Disadvantage is that the first lot will not be available in spray cans, so you will need a compressor and spray gun.

I have been watching this type of product grow over the past year or so, and think it is great for us off roaders who can do a fast protection paint job for a over land trip and just rip the coating off, along with all the scratches you picked up, when you get back home.

I have set myself a budget and believe that if we can do a "protective" paint coverage for around R1500 to 2000 for a SUV, it would work for us.

Background: One of the investors in this new product frequents our establishment and has been working on the SA distribution rights for a year now. They are now at a point where they are waiting for the demo stock to arrive.

We are all holding thumbs on this and I will keep you posted as things develop.

I am also holding thumbs on this one. I have been unemployed for 3 years now and am desperately looking for new opportunities.

The product is mainly targeted at the mines and industry with the idea that they can protect items in long term production from the elements until ready for painting.

I may be jumping the gun, but hey, I am trying to be positive here

So more than a year later, I have nearly forgotten about this thread  ...

OK, the alternative to Plastidip did not pan out, and the one "partner" stiffed the other (nogal a Policeman) and the whole deal fell flat.

This "concept" has been playing on my mind for a long time and few things have caused me to re-look it again.

Now maybe some of the guys here can help me with one or two things. I know of one or two Patrols that have had that clear Vinyl coat installed to protect the body work. What is the price of something like that on the Patrol. I have seen prices in the USA of around $2000 and someone mentioned to me that a buddy had a LC done a while back at R18K. Then a door had to be done over when a bad scratch left the Vinyl damaged and that cost the man R3K. Can someone confirm this?

So cost seems to be an issue here and something else that has come out of it, is that the entire panel has to be done over if the Vinyl is damaged.
Then I have heard that some of these Vinyls take your original paint off after a few months, or the glue stays behind and is very difficult to get off.

Besides that, I have been checking in with the industry every now and then and following a few guys around the world. There has been some amazing developments in the last while with the original Plastidip product. Ok, maybe not so much Plastidip directly, but a few guys have got some amazing additives and colours going that has transformed the whole dipping industry.

So keeping in mind that I am still looking for opportunities and trying to get my finances out of the gutter, I have been negotiating with the guys in the US to bring some of the product into SA. We are stuck with Plastidip SA as they are the only guys that can import the "wet" product at this stage. The colours and other "additives" are however the exiting part.

Right now I am at number 99 and have to supply the details of my spray painting business/premises to finalise the deal  (anyone here that can help me out with that or have a panel shop/painting setup that we can get involved with).

That is where I am at with the business, I have been on the case of Plastidip SA to supply product. If you have been looking, some outlets have not had stock for for over six months now.

You may say Plastidip has caused enough of a feeling in my nether regions to make me pursue it this far. I have good backing from the US company, it is now just co-ordinating the importation of product.

Hope I am not shooting myself in the foot with this post here. I have not had a bad experience from my "Nissan Family" to date.

Big idea behind this post is to let you all know what I am trying to get going, maybe there is someone who is needing something like this done to their vehicle and we can help each other out.
