Peter, unfortunately I have not. Nissan have failed to get me the clutch friction plate in the time promised

. I have just received confirmation from the local dealer that I will not have it before the weekend, so I now I have to accept that I will be a passenger at 3 Provinsies

.

I finally have my Patrol running again

.
It is a shame that Valeo don't have an aftermarket clutch kit for the 4.5 Patrol that works (although they think that they do)...
It is a shame that Nissan did not have a normal wear-and-tear item like a clutch friction plate in stock...
It is a shame that Nissan could not make good on their promise to get me one in two weeks (in the end it was close to four)

...
...but I am super happy to have Imvubu, the old monster, back. I really missed driving a real vehicle and I must say that the new clutch feels fantastic and should be good for the next 250,000 km or so

.
I am still miffed that I could not play with all of you guys at 3 Provinsies. In fact I am more miffed about that than about the Springboks' defeat

. Anyway, I will just have to wait till the next countrywide Patrol get-together, which will hopefully be soon (sooner than the 70th birthday, at least

).

Ja kyk, daar is min soos 'n 4.8 in die sand

.
Groete

OK, the 3.0 Di patrol needs a clutch! Any options in JHB area other than the stealers? Or do I bite the bullit and get them to order the parts so long?

For what it is worth, my clutch on my '96 GQ 4.2 petrol packed up a couple of weeks ago on the way back from Botswana - 249 000km on the clock. I had to get it fixed really quick for a trip to Ribbokkloof two weekends ago. I could not source a replacement kit in time and opted for the recondition option. I had the whole thing done for R1150. This included the re lining of clutch, skimming of pressure plate and flywheel, and new thrust bearing. The work I did myself (pulling the motor and not the gearbox). It feels like a new car again and handled Ribbokkloof with no problems, also towing my offrosd trailer there and back. How long it will last and where it will let me down, I do not know, but lets see this as an interresting experiment!!!!

If you replace the clutch on the 3.0, you'll probably also have to replace the Dual Mass Flywheel.
Have a look at this thread about mine:
Dual Mass Flywheel conversion
