Thanks for a interesting Saturday morning, sat in the left seat on a few loops , and it feels so funny not being in control , and yip those big stumps got very close
at times, and the 4 wheel drive drifting into the corners was also interesting .My 3L lacks some omoof out of the corners , but showed up the the bigger boys in the idle test up the pit incline (diesel torque ) even impressed me .

Would be very interesting to see how a manual 4.8 would fare.
I think manual is a big advantage in such a test.

I think the 4.8's suffered from lack of traction due to too much power on this tight track.
The GQ's had a definite advantage due to less weight, lower centre of gravity and two very good drivers and there was very little difference between the manual and auto's times although the auto was fuel injected and the manual was carb.

Greg.... that air filter number is either a GUD AG 1028 or MANN & HUMMEL C 18143 (it comes in a Mann box with a GUD sticker )

I spoke to Andre Steyn as well regarding the zd30 air filter. He uses the filter of a Isuzu 300d and aparantly fits like a glove..... worth while exploring as they are very easy to find

I looked up on the GUD electronic catalogue
Isuzu 300 TDi - Air filter - AG1054R - (h) 146 (od) 168 (id) 80
Patrol 3.0 - Air filter - GUD - AG1028 - (h) 138 (od) 176 (id) 95
or
Mann & Hummel - C18143 - (h) 138 (od) 176 (id) 95
or
SAAB - 5173166 - (h) 138 (od) 176 (id) 95
The diameters is no problem I think, but the height difference of 8mm, I thought might make closing and clipping the lid a bit problematic. Maybe I must try one and see if there is a difference. The Mann & Hummel filter doesn't have any rubber seals on either ends, whereas the OEM one is a steel casing with filter medium inside and then the rubber seals on both ends. I'm assuming the Isuzu filter has these rubber seals and that these will compress to take up the 8mm difference.....
Maybe Andre can post a pic or 2 on this

I would have thought the id might be important, but that depends on how it seals.
My filter, despite being just about due for replacement, was relatively clean. Much cleaner than the rest of my car!
Driving home on Saturday a couple of times I drove past big lorries coming the other way, and I could see a cloud of dust blow off my bonnet as the wind buffeted!
