On our Bots trip Tommie made a seed net for both my and his Patrol. I would recon 70% or 80% net was used covering from under the bonnet to right under the radiator and it was wide enough to cover a small section of the headlights.
It was very effective to keep out the seeds and mud as well.
I did notice about a 10deg higher avarage water temp and had to keep my engine speed around 2,000rpm to get enough airflow through the radiator, but very happy with the effectiveness of the net.

I can also tell you that most radiators I service for the farmers with their L/cruisers and so on, they all have huge amount of grass and crap sucked in between the Radiator and Condenser. This is because of that green nets they use.
The problem is that net goes from underneath the hood to the bottom of the bumber which then makes that vacuum at the bottom of the car sucking all that stuff in between the Rad & Cond.
If you are going to put of those nets on, make it go around the bumber at the bottom all the way to the radiator so u can cover the gap between the Rad & cond. Otherwise its pretty pointless to have it in the 1st place.

Agreed. Been there, done that... and its radiator out time to clean it all...

Got a Securetech 800 x 1000 seed net feom Outdoor warehouse yesterday for a client's car that works pretty well. Managed to wrap it from the bottom of the radiator up to the grille and was only R230

Michael I see from the Botswana trip that a few folk wrapped the shadecloth over the bonnet and covered the Inlet for the intercooler. Your opinion - necessary to also cover the intercooler?
