Hello

Herewith the interim feedback.

The vacuum pump is cracked. The cost on the new one is R 7000. The bad news is that according to SA Warranty the Vacuum Pump is not part of the engine that is covered by the warranty. The Diesel pump that is necessary to pump diesel is covered. The water pump for water is covered, the oil pump is covered but the Vacuum Pump that is integral is the Turbo, the Common rail’s extra diesel is not part that is covered. (To name but a few things that it is used for)

I have spoken to them, Ben, the workshop manager from Edenvale Nissan spoke to them, but it is impossible to get any further than the call centre manager.

I swear I will not leave this here. If the vacuum is not covered by the Warranty I will endeavour to warn as many people as possible of their effort not to pay.

Yet again I want to compliment Nissan Edenvale on their servise.

Very very bemoerde Izak :helpsign:

Hallo Izak

The warranty referred to in your latest post, is that now the "General Risk SA" one, referred to in your first post in this thread?

The stance adopted by them appears to be at odds with their name, I would say.

Forget the fineprint. Put enough pressure, and the might pay for the vacuum pump also. Insist on speaking to the boss. Calll centres drive me nuts. The devil is in the fineprint.

Nogmaals: Good luck, hang in there.

Hello again.

The newest is that SA warranty has undertaken to pay for the pump, but not for the labour and the tow in.

So, it is round 2. Seconds out of the ring.

Izak

PS I have asked the same question, on the reason for the crack. No answer yet on that. I am not looking for a new part fitter, that I could have done myself. I want answers as to the cause ..................

Last report on this subject

I got my Patrol back. She is going fine and there seems to be no damage to the engine. There is no answer as to the reason for this, no one seems to have heard of any such problem before but with a year guaranty on this I feel a little better. The one thing that is sitting in the back of my mind is reliability on the Patrol. I see on the forum the story of Lazarus and others, and that gives cause for a little concern.

My compliments to Edenvale Nissan and Bennie in person. Pity they did not clean the underside or the car after the repairs. But after I pointed it out I was promised a full valet when I bring it back.

I still cannot find much good to say on SA Warranty's.

Thanks for the concern and advice in this period.

Izak, i am glad it is all sorted, the Patrol is still a fine vehicle, and your problem could have happened to any vehicle.
This happens to Cruisers and Landys as well, but they dont talk about it for some reason.
I dont know how you stay so calm. Maybe this could be the reason why they all ran to help you in the end   .

My brother drives a 110 Deffender.....endless problems, most of them with SA Warranty's and some with the landy. Things do break on any vehicle...but it is the resposibility of the guys like SA Warranty's, who takes our money, to pay when it is their turn. They will rather tow a vehicle 5km shorter distance, but 65km from your home, than tow the extra 5km to a repairer 5km from your house, and then still have issues on paying some of the work done.

I think they suck!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you got sorted out Izak. Which insurance product did you buy?

PS. They do talk about them, have a look at the LCCSA forums, or on sa4x4community forums.
