Dankie Gerrit, dit is baie bruikbare inligting. Lyk egter of die liggie dan nie meer werk met daardie solenoid nie. Maar daarmee sal ek kan saamleef.

Unfortunately the Hitachi solenoid valve does not seem to be the most durable one, especially when not exercised regularly. I might be wrong, but it seems as though the newer Y61 Patrols suffer from this more than the older ones, or is it my imagination?

Eish. One still needs to use your brain when working on cars. As far as I know the part of the manual describing the operation of the diff lock was written for the original versions of the Y61 (i.e. long before the 4.8 motor even existed) and was never adapted as new engine models became available, probably because the difflock system remained mostly unchanged (there are some electrical wiring changes in the later models that are described in the supplements to the original manual). It therefore stands to reason that the engine bay pictures might look a little different...
I have also noticed that the illustrations in the service manual that shows the location of the diff lock solenoid are for the left hand drive Patrol. Although the diff lock solenoid itself is mounted to the firewall on the left hand side in both the left hand drive and right hand drive versions, some other components are switched around (e.g. the brake booster and ABS unit).

Dankie Herrie, ek het daar gekyk, en ek sou graag wou saamgaan, maar daardie Saterdag is nie vir my moontlik nie. Ek sien uit na terugvoer oor hoe dit afgeloop het.

Hi to all
Have struggled to find VSV's even from the dealers.
I was so fraustrated that I got my son to bring me back the following generic Nippon Denso VSV that the Ausie boys use for both the Patrols and the Cruisers.
This unit has an adjustable screw to set your vacuum pressure requirement.
The l/Crisuer unit has a round two pin plug on the front which is converted to the T shape two pin plug.
See attached picture.
I now have two units left. Brand New - Price R900 each.
Regards
Alan
