Everything is ready for Saturday.

If possible, and you have some money, a variety of new recovery items will be on display which will form part of the talk given by Mr. Green of Securetech, afterwards we will auction these and donate the funds raised to the Endangered Wildlife Trust.

See you there!

The final event for the Nissan 4x4 Club was hosted by Mark White Nissan on Saturday the 27th of November. Mark offered the use of his showroom for a year-end function and provided a light lunch and cool-drinks, we were under pressure though as we wanted to give everyone the chance to watch the Springboks play Ireland, as things panned out it would have been better if Mark had arranged additional speakers as the game was somewhat of an anti -climax!

Glyn Demmer who represented the National Off-road Workgroup opened the proceedings and introduced the speakers setting a tone for what was to come ,Jonathan Hartman a well known figure in the training community took the group through the procedures around accreditation of service providers, training of assessors and the recognition of prior learning ( RPL ) , this was followed by a Q+ A session .Thereafter Ian Georgeson of Cross Country Insurance gave a short talk on 4x4 Insurance , it was interesting to note the key differences between their policy and standard insurance iro repatriation , cross border cover as well as the medical evacuation and the extent of cover !

Thereafter Michael Green of Securetech took the floor, literally as well as figuratively, Michael used the allocated time to take the group through a range of new recovery equipment as well as discussing utilization of straps, shackles .ropes etc. It was extremely interesting and in his matter of fact way he killed quiet a few urban legends that abound amongst the fraternity- the next step will be to see him, Jonathan and Glyn join us in the New Year to actively demonstrate recovery techniques.

After the speeches Michael sold off the demo items to raise funds for a local animal rehabilitation charity known as “Free Me” – R 3000.00 was raised which will greatly support their efforts. We greatly appreciate the fact that a senior member of Nissan SA took the time to join us, Ivan Olivier GM Marketing spent the afternoon with the group and was available to discuss Nissan related matters, this bodes well for the future of the club and its growth.

As a club we are grateful to Mark White for hosting us and to the speakers who gave time to share essential information with us .

Ek het ook vir Glyn gevra of hy so iets vir julle manne in die Kaap kan reël en hy sal vroeg volgende jaar daarna kyk.

Herrie,

Thanks a million for all your efforts, and for the feedback!

A Cape event sounds like a very good idea!

Hallo Herrie

I am very sorry that I could not attend this workshop.

I am interested to know whether the problems experienced by Patrol owners, in general, with Nissan agents not being able, generally, to supply technicians that really KNOW their way round Patrols, were addressed. And if so, what is the feedback?

Groete,

Gerhard

Danie Josling was busy with training and could not attend the meeting to give us feedback about the Patrol training. Another meeting will be organized next year where he will attend. Mark White Nissan does have a technician that had Patrol training.
