Thanks Guys

Drove a new 4.8 manual yesterday and was very impressed with the power , but i did not know it was not permanent 4x4 and that it has only rear difflock.

Asked the salesman (before i figured out its not permanent 4x4) where do you engage centre difflock and he replied that the Patrol does not have one !!!!  At least he learned something as well when i showed him (green light and second gearshift position) and explained the diff between centre lock on and off. He did not have a clue !!!

Bartho, don't be too concerned about perm 4x4. My father (71) commented that he much prefer my 1994 Patrol's handling to that of the the 105 Cruiser I had previously.
I have never had any road holding problems with the Patrol. And once I go off the tarmac I engage 4h. Unless you drive on very wet or icy roads I would venture to say that the Patrol is more stable onroad than the Cruiser. Living in Nam I suspect you don't have too many wet or icy roads

How does the Patrol power compare to your sc Cruiser? I know it cannot be in the same league just curious as to how far off it is.

Abri

The non-permanent 4x4 is not a issue , in fact , now i know why the fuel consumption is better than a cruiser's ! In any case with the cruiser i always locked the centre diff when on gravel so the same will be done with the patrol.

Power compared to my supercharged 105 ? Top-end power not much (if you compare 230kw to 190 kw) but through the gears and climbing a steepish hill i could feel the difference (4th gear from 2000 rpm's the cruiser accelerate up the hill where the patrol stayed on 2000 rpm's the whole way up)the torque diff could the felt. (510mnt to the patrol's 425)

Patrol will def go for supercharger treatment !! :woo:

Simple calc shows that if i get the same perf increase as on the cruiser (rgm promises 50% more power and torque)my power wil go to
266 kw
552 nmt
on the patrol

That will be fun ! but in 2x4 a bit hairy now and then WWW

OK this is where perm 4x4 comes into play. It would be fun though seeing 35's being smoked. Expensive smoke but fun non the less.

Eerlike raad asb.

Gee vir my julle opinies asb ?

Hello Barto
Groete
