And so things go.
My old man took Petri's 4.5 for a drive this morning. And it looks as if it is a done deal...
Other Ian will be happy. Cedric notsomuch. Another petrol Patrol member coming up shortly.
Would like to say thanks to Graham and Vanessa for their effort this morning going through the vehicle. Also - Petri - thanks a stack. Things will presumably be finalised shortly.

Really - massive apologies. It's been a terrible two days and my mind is not where it should be at the moment... :|

Oom Div called me this morning Ian - he's on his way to pick up the Jollie Patrollie from Grham later today. Nice meeting you guys, and MANY safe and fun miles with that blue tjor!!!!!!!!
edit - Oh yes Ian, and if Oom Div smells something fruity, just ask him to add some more banana skins to the diffs.........
On a more serious note - I smoked in that Trol. Oom Div kan just put a couple halved apples under the seat for a week or so, then the smell will go away (I cant smell it, but he and the Tannie will).

And so my headaches begin..........having sold this to upgrade to something newer and whiter.
5 Choices here:
1) Something like Clyde Kaber's Patrol 4800 2004 model, in excellent nick,180 000km, white, nice extras. BUT auto.
2) A mint 2001 Land Cruiser 4500 EFI, some extras, 155000 km.
3) A 2005+ 4800 GRX.......nice, but Auto and wooden steering wheel and dash.
4) A 2005 + 4800 GL .......manual, no wooden bits.
5) 2010 + GL Diesel.......still need to test drive one. But yes, I do have some pre-conceptions about that engine (and yes, maybe wrongly so)
Life is HELL here in the Vleisstaat, let me tell you

Hi Petri
I guess it would be Option 4 or option 5 if you want to stay with Nissan (considering your preferences)... else it might be the Toliota ?
I am not sure what your objections are with the Auto Box. I think its fantastic and I will not go back to manual. If you find a good GRX and you dont like the wood-trim.... I guess it would be reasonably easy to swap the trim with someone which has the silver trim.
Good luck with the car hunt

This one, even though its a ZD30, is a sweet piece of machinery. The issues with the motor were sorted out by 2010, and I think that that would be a sweet ride..... and fuel efficiency is quite appealing too. There is still some precautionary measures that can be fitted to the Patrol. In fact I personally believe that EVERY turbo diesel on any make of vehicle should have at least an EGT gauge fitted as standard..... but hey that's just me.....hahah
