Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I have had them on a Hardbody and a Sani.

Best mod you can do.

If you do the back consider removing 1 of the leaf springs. Vehicle is so much more comfortable yet retains if not increases it's load carrying ability.

I have found that idler arm's possibly wear faster but you do get a brace that is available from Dune Offroad for a couple of hundred bucks which makes a big difference. (there where a lot of threads on this on the old Nissan4x4 forum).

Do not turn the front up too high or you will get excessive suspension and steering wear. (MAX 750 mm from under wheel arch to bottom of 15" rim)

My missus took the Hardbody in yesterday and I drove it to work today, WOW what a difference. It is much better on the bumpy roads, the nose doesn't dip and the steering feels firmer.

Anyone use Camils in their Patrols?

From what I've heard, they aren't "heavy duty" enough for the Patrol weight. However on the Navy's and Pathy's and that weight class and interdependent suspension they work brilliantly !!!

So what other aftermarket shocks is good enough for a patrol?

Out of interest, the MK3 Sani that came from Nissan with the coil over's on the front, is not a Camil unit. Piet told me that they also do not have a shock for those specific coils, and I had to source a set of Monroe shocks.

I replaced mine about six month before I took to the IFS with a grinder. I would put them up for offer, but I used the hoops they mount to for my new suspension setup I built so that I can fit my longer shocks in.

Maybe someone can shed some light on where I can lay my hands on "normal" priced shocks that will give me 600 compressed and 900 extended.
