Ok I have now been suitably embarrassed by looking for a diesel with Cedric around   Spoken to a few people and it does not look good on the diesel patrol so I will just race past Cedric on the weekends in my 4.5 :rolling: :rolling: I still however need a vehical to drive every day that will not keep the petrol barons in the lifestyle they are accustomed to!! The direction I am now looking is the 2.5 (yes Cedric) Diesel Pathfinder any feedback from anyone on these vehicals I would be looking at the LE spec?

Maybe you must go on the www.nissan-offroad.co.za site to get the information of the Pathfinder.

My dad used to drive that Pathy.
Light on fuel and sufficient oemf.
Narrow torque range, but that goes with the territory of turbo diesels.

...Now as far as TDs go, an engine that I do like is the V9X....
But those Pathys are newer and more mullas needed.

HI Alex, thought about that one also 180kw only thing that worries me is that motor is ONLY in the pathfinder and no other nissans in SA (How about a Patrol with that motor??? as we know Nissan is slower on the uptake than Toyota and it took them 6 years to bring in the V8 motor that others counties have had for years)! Spares, Prices ect ect

I thought about that too.
You need two things:
a) A Patrol with no engine (these do come around every now and then).
b) A V9X probably with gearbox, given the required ratios and since you want your car to be auto.

Then you need to marry this gearbox to your existing transfer case?
I suspect the Pathfinder boxes are not as overdesigned as our Patrol boxes.
People driving Lexus converted 4x4's with Lexus auto boxes have complained that the box gets quite hot when working hard.

Hi Ian

I have seen a lot of (well, a few at least) Pathy related queries and discussions on the community forum.

You may get a better response from there.
The Nissan offroad forum is still quite new, so not a lot of historic discussions.
