On mine I had to tighten a nut on the inside of the fender to hold the new antenna's mounting plate in place. Painstaking job with lots of spanner rash, must be much worse for someone with large hands.

PS: Make sure that the new mounting plate can bite through the paint and into the metal when you fit it, or you'll have horrible reception...

Thanks. Do you have to remove the Radio to plug the new cable into the Radio?

This is much easier if you remove the wheel.

it depends on whether there is an extension cable out the radio towards the aerial. Mine has an extension with a plug in point just behind the heater fan unit behind the cubby hole
