Re: DIY Roof Rack

OK, so it seem the aluminium roof rack is out for now. I am looking to manufacture something similar to an ARB roof rack.

It is a simple tube construction from 25 mm that is easy to weld together. This is what I am thinking of:

If some one has an ARB roof rack, could you please measure the tube diameter for me?

Thanks

Marinus, My better half works for Tectra Automation here in Meadowdale (Gauteng), and they have all sorts of Aluminium extrusion like what you showed on the previous page. If you like I can ask her to get me a contact person for the alum. extrusions, and maybe you can source it from them....
Regards
Cedric

Going to stick my oar in again:

Consider making the top rail detacheable. It may come in very handy...

Hi Tinus

Dit sal gaaf wees as jy vir my kan uitvind watter profile hulle vir my kan kry.

Dankie.

Hier is my dakrak projek.

Daar is 3 brackets per kant

Work is only hard for those who hardly work

It is not to the front due to aerodynamic reasons.

Marino,
Did you do that in GooglScetchup?

Like the look.

Got the model from the net.

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... 9572fadc63

Saved it as stl and put the roof rack on in another program. The model is not to bad, but does not have all the detail.
