Hi
I am starting to look at getting some recovery equipment for my car.
What rating/size will you recommend for the following gear?
1) Bow Shackles
2) Pull strap
3) Snatch/Kinetic strap/rope
4)Bridle
Thanks
Marinus

As jy Makro toe gaan sal jy SecureTech se recovery stelle kry en jy moet maar vir die sterker (wat meer gewig hanteer) straps gaan.

SecureTech for sure.... reliable !!!!!
Maybe try these guys to get any questions answered, and then like Herrie says, check out Makro and similar shops.... But go for BIG.... these Patrols are already almost 3 tons once you add a few goodies, and shock loads must be kept in mind

Marinus, ek het vir my by Securetech 'n 15m, 15ton strap laat maak spesifiek vir die Patrol.
Jy kan alles direk by Securetech doen.

Die 5 ton strap breek eers by 15 ton!

So the following will work/not:
1) Bow Shackles 4.75 Ton
2) Pull strap 14 Ton
3) Snatch/Kinetic strap/rope 8 Ton
4)Bridle 10.5 Ton
Thanks

1) Bow Shackles 4.75 Ton - - If it is rated for 4.75 ton, there is a safty factor built in. Your patrol weighs 3 tons, but being on rollong chassis one probably are only pushing 300 or 400 kg, but if you are belly deep in ummmm... mud, the pull rope will probably not even get you out of that one so a snatch rope would probably be your best bet then. The pull strap will not produce a shock load on the shackle, so that shackle can handle 1.5 times the weight of your patrol which should be ok..... BUT you would be better off using the bridle connected to the two recovery points on the stuck vehicle with the two 4.75 ton bow shackles giving you a 9.5 ton capacity, connected to an 8 ton snatch rope will work. REMEMBER.... you cn have 20 ton shackles and ropes.... but what is the weakest point..... possibly the bolts holding the whole thing together....

.... Also they must be bow shackles and not D shackles
2) Pull strap 14 Ton - will be fine
3) Snatch/Kinetic strap/rope 8 Ton - will be fine
4)Bridle 10.5 Ton - will be fine
If used correctly for the correct application, with correct safety procedures in place

Thanks Ricster
I am going to use a duel Bow Shackle configuration. Do not want to take chances.

Allright,
In the light of the up coming training day.
You have covered the gear, what about the recovery points?
I have a PC bash plate and hence my OE recovery point is now gone.
Peter, have you maybe got a new design on these or does anybody else know of someone who manufactures them?
